ERTMS L2 System with high density functionality in the main Italian railway nodes
Summary:
Capacity gain is one of the goals of introducing ERTMS after the primary ones establishing interoperability and enhancing safety. Projects are often focalized on line capacity but station capacity is the true bottleneck. In this paper we focus on capacity effects of ERTMS/ETCS L2 with high density functionality, afterwards referred to as “HD ERTMS system”, in the main Italian nodes.
