Summary:
ETCS can do more than improve safety and interoperability. The data it generates can also be processed with advanced information technology to significantly improve commercial success by ensuring that railways always operate according to a plan. This presentation will describe an approach for capturing the commercial value-add of ETCS.

Speaker biography:
For the last 4 years, Sonja Caraian has been the Traffic Management System (TMS) Process Test Manager and co-lead of TMS usability and operability design within the Danish Signalling Programme. With a focus on facilitating the design, configuration and implementation of an improved TMS concept and design, Sonja advises the suppliers on analysis, design and refinement of TMS to leverage the benefits of the upcoming digitised railway (ongoing installation of ERTMS Level 2 in Denmark).

Sonja holds a PhD in robotics and human-machine interaction from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia.
