Development of the harmonised European specifications for mainline ATO

Summary:
The development of a harmonised European standard for mainline ATO has been on-going for several years and is now close to finalisation for semi-automatic train operation. The work on a standard for unattended train operation has started last year.

This presentation gives an overview of how different European ATO projects contributed to reaching a common standard and will explain in detail the current state of the art of the work on semi-automatic as well as unattended train operation.

Speaker biography:
Roman Treydel is working at the ERTMS Users Group which is an organisation of 11 European infrastructure managers with the aim to support the development and implementation of ERTMS. He coordinates the participation of the railways in the Shift2Rail ATO work package and is also actively involved in the ERA Change Control Management process for the ERTMS specifications.
